HOLY ICON: „Window to Eternity”

You often hear “to paint an icon”, but the more precise term is “to write an icon”, because it is the word of God that is written in the picture. In accordance with the “writing” there is a “reading” of the icon that concerns us all: It is the wish to discover it, to understand it and to become absorbed. All icons have, even though they are different from each other, a mutual affinity and a mutual intention with which they were “written”: To witness the invisible, to strengthen our belief, to give us hope, to help us in our prayers and to strengthen our compassion.
